St Vincent de Paul / Cristo Rey of Hope

FALL 2019

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Fall edition of our Cristo Rey of Hope/St Vincent de Paul newsletter. As we head into the last part of 2019 and start our new fiscal year, we would like to take time to thank all our fellow Vincentians and supporters that help Christ the King take care of our community. NONE of what we do would be possible without the generous support from our Twinning parishes and our most valued donors. Your dollars are stretched to the fullest and you are truly a blessing to so many.

The Food Pantry is still the heart of our ministries and our Clothing Center is going well. No one, no matter where they live, is ever turned away from our doors. We continue to believe this is one reason God continues to bless us with great volunteers and resources that allow us to serve his children.

Great turnout for our Back-to-School event. Child Abuse Prevention Rally with their balloon release is a favorite with the kiddos. Just over 300 children received backpacks, school supplies, uniforms, reading books, hot dogs and snow-cones. The HEB buddy, Via’s Buster and Sparky the fire dog was here along with the San Antonio Fire truck for children young and old to climb on. Thank you to David’s Legacy who had a booth on cyberbullying prevention. The information was very informative.

Fav Fall Festival!

The BANANA SPLITS at this year’s Christ the King Church festival were a crowd favorite.  Thank you, Cristo Rey of Hope Ministry for this super yummy treat!

Friends of the Poor 5k Walk

St Vincent de Paul at Christ the King would like to send a very special “THANKS” to everyone that participated in and donated to us during the Friends of the Poor 5k Walk this year. We were able to raise $800 of our $3,000 goal and appreciate all your prayers and support. As a reminder donations for this event will be accepted through October 30, 2019

Annual Thanksgiving meals feeding 150 families.

Yes it’s that time of the year to start thinking about the Holidays. St Vincent de Paul and Cristo Rey of Hope are planning for their Family Holiday Meal Program and we are going to need your help to feed the neediest in our community. We are in need of canned corn, green beans and stuffing for the Food Boxes this year. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Our goal is to provide 150 families a Thanksgiving meal for them to prepare. If you, your family, ministry or organization would like to “adopt” a family for either Thanksgiving or Christmas please contact Christina Gomez or Dan Fernandez in the Pantry at 210-955-9571. Thank you for helping us feed God’s children.
